Reg. no: 11303001 Class:
VIII
Subject: Physical
Science Duration:
25-30 Minutes
Topic: Types of force Date:
13/01/2014
SPECIFIC
OBJECTIVES:
1)
The students will be able to define force in their
own words.
2)
The students
will be able to explain the causes of tmovement of objects/bodies.
3)
The students will be able to enlist types of forces..
4)
The students
will be able to distinguish and differentiate various types of forces.
5)
The students
will be able to discover and explain muscular force, friction, magnetic force,
gravitational force and electrostatic force.
6)
The students
will be able to summarise various forces.
7)
The students will be able to associate various
forces in everyday life experiences.
SPECIFIC
AUDIO-VISUAL AIDS: Magnets, hanging container apparatus, ball,
plastics scale and accessories for performing relevant types of forces.
PREVIOUS
KNOWLEDGE ASSUMED:
It is assumed
that the students have learnt about movement of objects, basics about cause of these
movements, nature of different forces like gravity, magnetic force, etc.

PUPIL TEACHER’S ACTIVITY
|
PUPIL’S ACTIVITY
|
METHODS/TECHNIQUES/BOARD
WORKS/AV AIDS
|
Pupil teacher will say that earth revolves around
sun in the same manner other planets do just like entire universe moves
continuously. Even your systems in body are in continuous movement.
|
Pupils will listen carefully
|
Lecture method
|
Then, the pupil teacher will perform an activity
using hanging container (Pulling and pushing the hanged container to cause
movement) and asks ‘What caused the movement of the container?’
By pushing and pulling the hanged container, what
happened to its state of motion?
What do you call for push or pull exerted on the
objects?
What are types of forces you know?
|
May be force
Pushing and pulling the hanged container caused
the movement of it.

Students,
today we are going to study about types of forces.

ANNOUNCEMENT
OF TOPIC:
The pupil
teacher will say that today we are going to study about ‘Types of forces’ by
writing the topic on the board.
PRESENTATION:
RECAPITULATION: The pupil
teacher will say that today we have studied about Types of force. We have
learnt two general types of force and some sub-types of contact and non-contact
force.
Recapitulation
question;
1.
Define force.
2.
How force imparts movement to objects?
3.
Enlist types of force along with their sub-types and
one examples each.
4.
Distinguish contact force and non-contact force.
HOME
ASSIGNMENT:
Q 1. Suppose you
are appointed as a senior scientist for Indian space mission 2050. You are
asked to design a space transport system which can travel anywhere in the
universe with maximum speed by challenging friction, magnetic force,
electrostatic force and gravity that persist in the universe.
How will you
design that space transport system?
[Ask help from
your parents and study more on the types of forces.]
